Just a short note today while many of you will be on a festive break. Happy Christmas to everybody, and thanks for reading Secret Sleuths this year! I can’t believe I’ve managed to write about a private detective pretty much every week this year - and there are still many more out there to write about, so do stick with me into 2024.
On the personal front, I’ve got just a week to go before the manuscript for my next book has to be at the publishers. This, it will not surprise some of you, is about private detectives - well, one to be precise. This is arguably the most famous private detectives of late Victorian and Edwardian Britain, and the reason I haven’t written about him on Secret Sleuths is because I didn’t want to pre-empt what the book was going to cover. Obviously, there will be some teasers as we get closer to publication, though!
The book is provisionally titled Britain’s Greatest Private Detective: The Rise and Fall of Henry Slater, and it will be published by Pen & Sword. Do keep an eye on their website and on here for publication date and details a bit further down the line.
